For  a researcher to succeed in their Genealogy research it is essential that they understand  where records on family are kept.    To often researchers are led to believe that records are kept on the Internet and while this true to some extent, however, records are ultimately kept in Depositories around the world.  Our Library concentrates on Depositories in the U.S.  Those depositories include:


FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DEPOSITORIES
These are governement depositories at the national level.  The two that the researcher is most likely to use are:
National Archives
Library of Congress

STATE AGENCIES
Each State has one or more state agencies responsible for historical and government records.  Most often that Agency is the State Historical  Society, or State Library and Archives.
