Should I become a member? Have you been
wondering whether or not you should seek membership in Wings of Life
Worship Center? Here is some information intended to answer
some of your questions and help you seek God’s will in this
matter. What does membership mean? Membership
is an outward sign of commitment to Wings of Life, to its vision and
leadership, and to service within this faith community. Who is
eligible to become a member? In order to become a
member, you must
What privileges do I have as a member
that I would not have otherwise? Members
only are invited to attend the annual meeting (when financial matters
are discussed) and other meetings that may be called in times of
special need. Also, positions of church leadership may only be
filled by members; therefore, membership open up new levels of
opportunity. Am I just as
important to the functioning of the church if I am not a member? Absolutely!
Wings of Life has been blessed with many long-time faithful worshippers
who have not sought membership for one reason or another. Every person
is a valued part of the Body of Christ and we appreciate you. Becoming a member,
however, is rather like turning a long engagement
into a marriage. With that commitment, there’s a certain level
of grace
and service that God will make available to you. Can I partake of communion if
I’m not a member? Another
name for communion is the Lord’s supper. The Lord himself
invited those
who are His to His banquet. If you are a born again Christian, in good
standing with the Lord, you are welcome to join in communion.
As a winter resident of Arizona, how
can I become a member without abandoning my church back home We agree that your
primary church membership and place of service should be where you
spend most of your time in residence. However, if you are in
our area for three months or more during the winter season, we invite
you to become a winter member. Winter
members have the same level of commitment to Wings of Life when they
are in Arizona as they do to their church ‘back home’. They have two church
homes, just as they have two physical homes. You may wish to consult
with your pastor back home to seek his spiritual advice before making
this important decision. Winter membership
allows part-time residents to avoid the ‘taking a vacation from
spiritual responsibility’ syndrome. Additional opportunities
for service are certainly available during the months when church
attendance is higher. As a winter
